Eastern Kentucky is home to some of the highest food insecurity rates in the state, exacerbated by economic decline, geographic isolation, and limited access to affordable groceries. According to Feeding America, some counties in this region report food insecurity rates upwards of 20%, with children being especially vulnerable.
