Renew New Jersey Car Registration Online
Here are the steps to renewing your New Jersey car registration online if you have received a renewal notice:
- Go to the New Jersey MVC car registration website
- Type in your PIN, Social Security Number and your insurance policy number
- Pay the amount the system shows you
- The MVC will mail your registration documents to the mailing address they have on file. You may confirm that the address printed on your renewal certificate is correct. If the mailing address on your registration has changed, update it here BEFORE renewing your registration
Renew New Jersey Car Registration in Person
Here are the steps to renewing your New Jersey car registration in person if you have received a renewal notice:
- Schedule an Appointment for your car registration in any New Jersey MVC office
- Go to your scheduled appointment
- Bring the following documents: Registration Renewal Notice or Vehicle Identification Number; Insurance Card or Company Name and Policy Number; License plate number; Proof of ID (Driver license or other primary ID document; Power of Attorney if renewing a registration for someone else; Completed Application for Vehicle Registration (Form BA-49)
3. Pay the fees. You can pay by cash, money order, checks (payable to NJMVC), credit or debit card
Renew New Jersey Car Registration via Mail
Here are the steps to renewing your New Jersey car registration via mail if you have received a renewal notice:
- Put the the Completed Registration Renewal Notice (both front and back must be filled out) and the check or money order (payable to NJMVC) in the return envelope provided along with the notice
- Ensure the address can be seen through the envelope window
- Mail it to the return address
