Here are the steps to renewing your New Mexico car registration online if you have your vehicle renewal form:
- Go to the New Mexico DMV car registration website
- Select Renew Vehicle Registration and Express or Traditional Registration Renewal
- Type in the last 4 digits of your Vehicle ID Number, Plate Number and Zip Code
- Pay the amount the system shows you

Here are the steps to renewing your New Mexico car registration in person or via mail if you have your vehicle renewal form:
To submit your New Mexico registration renewal by mail or in person, you will need:
- Your registration renewal notice from the NM MVD
- DO NOT highlight the document—the MVD will reject it
- Payment the fees

- Enter your License plate number or control number (found on your renewal notice) and Credit Card information\
Note: If you renew by phone, you will receive a 5% discount on your base registration fee.
