    Non-State Grant Opportunities

    If grant opportunities are in several locations or more (or national), we will list them below.

    Grants For Small Businesses from the Barstool Fund: Small businesses all over the U.S. can apply for assistance from the Barstool Fund, founded by Dave Portnoy, who started the popular blog Barstool Sports. The fund was founded in December, but closed down to new applications for several weeks because of demand.  Applications are now open again, and businesses will receive "however much they need to stay in business" according to Portnoy. Any small business in need of help can apply; about 300 have received help so far.  Learn more and apply here.

    Grants of $5,000 for Black-Owned Businesses in Select Cities: D.C. based entrepreneurship organization 1863 Ventures has launched a new grant program called the 3 R's program (Recover, Rebuild, Resilience), for Black-owned businesses in select cities. Business owners can receive $5000 grants, mentorship, and access to online courses. The program is available to Black business owners in Oakland, D.C., Gainesville,  Miami, Atlanta, Chicago, Louisville, Boston, Baltimore, Jackson, Newark, Houston, Norfolk and El Paso.     Grants Up to $10,000 for Women-Owned Businesses: Jane Walker, a whiskey label run by Johnnie Walker, has partnered with the organization IFundWomen to provide $10,000 grants to women-owned businesses in journalism, hospitality, music, sports or entertainment. Applications are being accepted on a rolling basis until June. Learn more and apply here.

    Grants of Up to $20,000 for Restaurants: The food delivery app DoorDash has announced a new  grant program for restaurant owners in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, or Atlanta. Any business owner with less than three locations and fifty or fewer employees can qualify for $20,000 in grants as well as mentorship and other support.     $20,000 Grants from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation: The Stavros Niarchos Foundation (created in the name of Greek shipping tycoon Stavros Niarchos, a billionaire who died in 1996), has partnered with the National Community Reinvestment Coalition to provide $20,000 grants for U.S. based small businesses. Businesses owned by women, people of color, low-income people and veterans will be prioritized, but any business owner can apply. Learn more and apply here.  Applications close March 19th.

    Grants for Black Women-Owned Businesses from MasterCard: MasterCard has partnered with Jennifer Hudson and the VC fund Fearless Fund (which is owned and operated by women of color)  to provide grants to businesses owned by Black women in the U.S. Applications aren't open for the grants yet, but you can learn more about the program and sign up for the email list here.

    Loans of Up to $100,000 from Square: The point-of-sale software Square offers loans of up to $100,000 to their users, which can then be repaid automatically using a percentage of sales with the software. The loans don't have interest, but they do have a flat administrative fee. You can learn more and apply for the program here.

    Loans of Up to $100,000 for Businesses in Southern States: Small businesses in the Southeastern U.S. (from Delaware to Texas) can apply for loans of $100,000 from the Southern Opportunity And Resilience (SOAR) fund. To be eligible, businesses must have 50 or fewer full-time employees. Applications aren't open yet, but you can learn more about the program and application requirements here.

    Grants of Up to $200,000 for Businesses Serving Families: Small businesses that serve low-income families with children can receive grants of up to $200,000 from the Administration for Children and Families. Grants can be utilized to reach out to possible clients and develop programming. Learn more and apply here.

    Grants of Up to $10,000 for Black Female Entrepreneurs: Black female or non-binary entrepreneurs can apply for $10,000 cash grants from the SoGal foundation. Grantees will also receive access to mentoring and support. To learn more and apply, click here.
