Thinking about getting your driver's license at the Idaho DMV? Here's exactly what you need to know to get your permit, pass your road test, and get your Idaho driver license.

Here's How to Get Your Idaho Driver's License:

Here's what you'll need to get your Idaho license:

  • Proof of Idaho residency
  • Proof of age and identity
  • Social security card
  • Proof of drivers education completion
  • Proof of school enrollment if under 18
  • Payments for the testing fee ($17.50), the driver's license fee ($15.00), and the administration fee ($6.50)

Here's what you'll need to do to get your Idaho license:

  1. Visit any DMV Office near you and provide the required documents. You may use the Add the Star Tool to satisfy Idaho’s identification requirements.
  2. Get a consent from a responsible adult if you are under the age of 18 and provide proof of relationship. You should be accompanied at the DMV for them to sign the consent form.
  3. Fill out the application form available at the DMV.
  4. Take and pass the eye screen and written test. (Read the Idaho Driver Manual and take written practice tests).
  5. Pay the required fee and then you will be issued a learner's permit.
  6. Practice driving with a licensed driver before scheduling your road test on the DMV website. You can also schedule on Skip.
