- Read the Illinois Driver Manual and take online practice exams to prepare for the written test (optional).
- Visit your nearest Driver Services Facility: submit the required documents and ID at the DMV; consider making a DMV appointment or getting a line waiting concierge.
- Pass the vision test and written test (Read the Illinois Driver Manual and take written practice tests).

- Need to practice driving before the road test? Then you first will need to apply for a Learner’s Permit.
