Here's How to Get Your Nevada Driver's License

Here's what you'll need to get your Nevada license:

  1. A completed Application for Driving Privileges or ID Card (Form DMV 002E)
  2. Proof of the following: Identity and Social Security number
  3. Proof of Nevada residency (2 documents), certified or originals dated within the last 60 days. The DMV provides a complete list of acceptable documents. Depending on the documents you present, you will be issued either a: REAL ID license, Standard license,  or Driver Authorization Card.

Here's what you'll need to do to get your Nevada license:

  1. Complete a Driver's License, Driver Authorization Card, or Identification Card Application (Form DMV 002).
  2. Apply for your Learner’s Permit: submit the required documents and ID at the DMV; consider making a DMV appointment or getting a line waiting concierge.
  3. At the DMV, submit the application for a driver's license, pass the vision and written test, receive your Learner’s Permit
  4. Once you're ready, schedule your road test on the DMV website or you can schedule on Skip. If you need a car or driver for your road test, you can schedule a road test concierge here.

  6. You will be issued an interim document after successful completion of the skills test for a fee of $4.25. The license will then be mailed to you within 10 business days.

Here are Nevada driver's license exceptions to note:

  • Non U.S. Citizens who have applied for, but not received, a Social Security number may attest to this on the driver license application. They are not required to provide proof of a Social Security number.
  • If you receive an Instruction Permit, it will be mailed to you within 10 business days. You may drive only with a licensed driver, 21 years or older, with at least one year of driving experience seated next to you at all times.
