What You’ll Need to Do to Renew your Florida Driver License Online
You are eligible to renew online only if you meet all the following requirements:
- If there are no changes with your name and your address.
- You are either a US citizen or a permanent resident.
- Your license complies with the new federal REAL ID requirements.
- Your license is currently valid, or it expired no longer than one year ago.
- Last license renewal was done in person at a Driver License Service Center.
- Renewal fee: $48 +$2 service fee +$15 late fee (if applicable).

What You’ll Need to Do to Renew your Florida Driver License in Person
Step 1: Visit the Florida GoRenew Online System
- Submit your driver’s license number, date of birth, and last 4 digits of your Social Security number.
- Pay the required renewal fee.
- Receive a receipt
Step 2: Receive your renewed Class E license via U.S. mail
What You’ll Need to Do to Renew your Florida Driver License by Mail
If you are eligible to renew your license by mail, the DHSMV will mail you a renewal application and instructions about 45 days before your license expires.
Since, it will take time for the DHSMV to receive and process your renewal application, renew as soon as possible so that your existing license will not expire before you receive your new one.
