We sell smilax bags by weight, which can vary. A full bag weighs approximately 12–14 lbs and contains around 100 linear feet of vine, covering roughly 100 sq ft. A half bag weighs about 6–8 lbs, contains about 50 linear feet of vine, and covers about 50 sq ft.

**What is the guidance for "safe buffer" when planning big installations?**

For large installations or when extra fullness is desired, we recommend adding 1 extra half bag as a safe buffer. This is an optional recommendation, not a requirement.

**What is the seasonal availability of smilax and what are the off-season alternatives?**

The growing season for smilax is from July to March. During the off-season, from April to June, good quality vine may be harder to find and it may take longer to complete orders. During this period, we encourage customers to consider our cherry laurel branches as an alternative.
