What You’ll Need to Renew your Oregon Driver License
To renew your license you will have to visit a DMV office.
- Your current driver license.
- Complete the renewal application form. You may download it here.
- Proof of identity
- Proof of residency
- Have your picture taken.
- Pass the vision test if you are 50 years of age or older.
- Renewal fee of $40.00
- Get an interim card. Since, your new license will arrive in the mail.
What You’ll Need to Do to Renew your Oregon Driver License in Person
- Apply in person on a walk-in basis at a DMV office.
- Complete the renewal application form.
- Bring the required documentation (proof of identity and proof of your OR residence address).
- Pass a vision test if you are 50 years of age or older.
- Present your current driver's license.
- Have your picture taken.
- Pay the renewal fee $40.00.
- Get an interim card. Your new license will arrive in the mail.
What You’ll Need to Do to Renew your Oregon Driver License by Mail
You can renew by mail only if you are out of Oregon at the time of renewal. In this case, contact DMV at 503-945-5000 to check if you are eligible for renewing your license by mail.

- You can renew your license up to 12 months before or after your license expires.
- You will have to apply for a new driver’s license, pay the original fee and take tests if your license has been expired for more than a year.
