There's a new grant program for small businesses in the US with between 5 and 50 employees. According to their application, this also includes independent contractors. The other two eligibility criteria are you must have less than $7MM USD in annual revenue and have a demonstrated need for the funding.

We highly recommend looking at this grant program if you think you might be eligible as it's one of the better ones we've seen recently.
