Here's How to Get Your Montana Driver's License

Here's what you'll need to get your Montana license:

  1. Proof of identity
  2. Proof of Montana residency
  3. Proof of Authorized presence
  4. Proof of your Social Security Number

Here's what you'll need to do to get your Montana license:

  1. Visit any DMV Office near you to apply in person and provide the required documents.
  2. Apply for your Learner’s Permit: submit the required documents and ID at the DMV, pass the vision test and the written test. (Read the Montana Driver Manual and take written practice tests)

  5. Once you pass your road test you'll receive a temporary driver's license. Then, you'll receive your new Class D driver’s license via U.S. mail.
