For In-Person and Online Renewal:
- MS driver's license number.
- Social security number.
- Proof of Identity (U.S. Passport, A state issued certified Birth Certificate. Must be original long form or a certified copy (No Photocopies Accepted).
- (2) Proof of Residency. (Utility bill, Rental agreement, Bank statement)
- Payment for the renewal fee (Cash, Credit or Debit Card).
For Renewal by Mail (for out-of-state military members and college students only)
- For Military member: Copy of your MS DMV driver's license or Social Security card; Copy of your military orders; Letter from your commanding officer that states your: Name, MS driver's license number, Military status, Certified check for the renewal fee.
- For Out-of-State College Students: Copy of your student ID card; Notarized letter on your school's letterhead confirming that you are a full-time student; Copy of your MS DMV driver's license or Social Security card; Certified check for the renewal fee.

Here are Mississippi driver's license renewal exceptions to note:
- You may renew online as early as 6 months prior to your expiration or up to one year past your expiration
- You cannot renew online from 2 a.m. to 3 a.m., Monday through Saturday
- If your driver's license is expired, you can still renew it, but you must pay an additional $1 late fee.
- If your local MS DMV office has a self-service kiosk, you can use it to renew your driver license.
